Hope, the Praying Bear

designed by Evelyn McDermand

            Materials:

3 yards ribbon, cord or plastic lacing
1 key ring or lanyard hook
            99 goldenrod pony beads
            12 ivory pony beads
1 rust or brown pony bead (for nose)
Black sharpie marker or craft paint for drawing on eyes and mouth.

Special Instructions: Pay close attention to the string path when making the arms. The arms are made after the row of 4 beads (the neck).
Lace on 8 goldenrod beads and 3 ivory. Skipping the ivory beads, go back through 2 beads and repeat. Add on 1 more bead (this will give
the appearance of an elbow) and continue going through the next two beads and ending up going back through only one bead of the next two.
Do the same for the other side. Add the next row of the body containing 5 beads, then go through the skipped bead of the arm to attach the
arm to the body. Continue with the pattern. Once the pattern is complete, tie knots, cut off excess string and add glue to the knots. Take a
piece of the excess string to tie the hands together by weaving it through the six ivory beads and tying a knot as shown.
