Niles, the Camel

designed by Evelyn McDermand

                Materials:

3 ˝ yards ribbon, cord or plastic lacing
1 key ring or lanyard hook
90 light brown or tan pony beads
8 rust or brown pony beads
                 1 black pony bead

Special Instructions:  Pay close attention to the string path when making the head and legs.  Begin the pattern in the usual
manner for the first three rows.  After completing the third row add an extra bead onto either side.  With one strand, make the tail,
                then make the fourth row.

Help with the head – Using one strand, add on the 17 beads as shown with the red string path.  Follow the green string path on the
pattern and go through beads marked 9 & 10, and then back through beads 16 &17.  Add on bead #18 (the black string path) which
is the ear, and go back through beads 17, 9 & 10.  To form the neck, continue following the black string path going through beads 6, 7, 8,
then through 4, 5, next through 2, 3 and through the loose bead marked 0 to secure the head and neck to the body and then through bead 1.
Continue with the pattern making the legs and then tying knots as shown.
